Ruger PCC and red dot mounting location

I have a Sig Romeo 5 on the way for my Ruger PCC chassis model. So the question of which red dot has been answered. My questions are where to actually mount it. Do I mount scout style up on the barrel/handguard (there is a spot there) ? Or, conventionally on the receiver ? FWIW there will be no iron sights so no co-witness.

There seems to be some concern on the internet that because of it being a takedown you need to worry about that and thus mount on the barrel. I would think if the barrel takedown mechanism is adjusted properly you shouldn't need to worry about it. Should I be concerned, or is lockup the same and no need to readjust sights every takedown ?

I have a red dot mounted on the receiver. I can't discern any movement of the barrel assembly, and even if it is there, it's not enough to effect my shooting in any way I can tell. I'm also not expecting bench rest performance from a PCC, so it's not something I've spent a lot of time worrying about.

I like them on the receiver, usually over the ejection port. Not a Ruger but...

I think I'll try it on the receiver and see how it goes. I can't immagine that much slack in the takedown mechanism that would allow for a lot of movement in POI. If it becomes an issue I can always move the red dot. I just was wondering what the think tank here thought as I trust more folks here than other forums.

I have my Romeo 5 mounted on the receiver of my Ruger PCC. I don’t takedown the rifle often (ever) but if I did, I’d still leave the sight on the receiver. I prefer that location for the way it works with my eye. As noted the PCC isn’t going to produce 1MOA groups at 100 yards with anything, but let us know if you see a discernible POI shift after takedown.

I’ve got mine over the receiver and never have any problems with it. Mine is usually taken down for storage and put together at the range. I have never had to change the settings for range work out to 75 yards.

My Ruger 10/22 takedown, which uses a similar system, does not maintain zero.

With a red dot, if you adjust the takedown mechanism properly, you'll be fine. It's not a varmint gun.

With a scope, yea you'll probably see a little zero shift if you're shooting for accuracy.

I have my Romeo 5 on the foreword part of the receiver. No problems with poi shift.
