I am buying an RPR in .223/5.56 caliber. It comes with a 20MOA scope mount. Most of my shooting is done at 100 or 200 yards. do most scopes have enough adjustment to work for this range or will I need to buy a new mount? Thanks for your advice in advance.

If all you are going to shoot is 200 Max then you don't need a 20 moa base. The 20 moa base is for long range 1000 plus you can still use it but your elevation will be in bottom of its adjustment.

Too add, I prefer, and I’m sure I’m not alone on this, to keep both windage and elevation as close to centered as possible. Whether wive’s tale or factual I’ve been told more than a few times that rifle scopes are less prone to failure and movement at this position.

Could be something to it, could be horse manure.

You should be fine, although, as posted, the 20 MOA base isn't needed for short range.

Look into Burris Signature rings. With the insert system they use you could zero out the 20 moa base or set it to 5 or 10 moa
