I like having options so I'm happy to see this version. I would suspect that left handed and 223 calibers can't be too far behind. Now that this rifle has been around for a while, I would expect a larger caliber size for Alaska's needs will eventually come out.

Where is Willie Sutton? I normally expect to see his input on a scout thread. Given his relationship with Cooper and Scout rifles I value his input.

Should have side sling attachments as factory - see ridiculously long magazine comment above.

That would be nice.

Since one of my greatest disappointments is the mag, I'll point out that I love a staggered, stock-flush, 5 rounder in my M-14 as a "handy" rifle. 10 rounds protrudes barely enough to grab.

A big gun vs. a small gun built around the same cartridge. The big gun with a pure double stack mag swallows more of a mag in the gun much more than a small gun does with a single/double stack mag. When I mentioned the belly of the Mossberg MVP being larger than a GSR, the MVP ain't got nuthin' on the belly of an M1A.

This is to scale. 20 vs. 10 though.

Yes, I prefer the poly 10 round mag. It's smaller, has no sharp edges, and the double stack portion goes higher up than does the factory issue steel mag.

Here is another scale comparison. 10 rounds vs. 10 rounds this time. One belly still bigger than the other by a tad. Plus a true double stack vs. a single/double stack.

. . . fanboys. It's what happens when a manufacturer shoots for a very specific target and misses.

Yep. I'm a fan. I think Ruger hit the target solidly though. The .308 version is a proven seller and the target was to sell guns.

All the opponents of the GSR do is keep the topic up and in front for all gun buyers to see. No one gets as bent out of shape over the GSR's competition as they do the GSR. It's honest to gawd free publicity.

About time...I prefer synthetic over laminates/wood stocks.

You can tell some people on this forum have no idea what they are talking about...I'm referring to the guy that said no company offers $600 stocks on factory rifles. Which is total BS, Savage has McMillan stocks and Savage isn't known to offer high end stocks on their rifles.

Ruger's press release says that the stock has an aluminum bedding block and pillars. To me that bodes well for the quality of the stocks and potential accuracy.
