I have a Ruger Security-Six that is the dreaded 150 series (it has a different backstrap than the later ones). I have some of the Harrett grips that were designed for the 150 series and they work great. I've also shot it with Pachmeyer grips desigened for the 151 series (it came that way).

Because the gun has some sentimental value to me, I'd like to pick up a set of the original Ruger grips, or at least a set of grips with the Ruger emblem. There are a few sellers on ebay selling original Ruger grips, but they do not know if the grips are original from the 150 series or the 151 series.

Does anyone know, short of trying them on a gun, how you can tell whether the original Ruger grips were for a 150 series or a 151 series? Some of them are still in the Ruger box and have codes on them.

Thanks.

Well, I did a little looking around and it seems that if the grips say catalog number RLG, then they will not fit a 150 series gun.

However, I still don't know about grips with catalog number LTG, or PSB.

If they don't have the catalog number, I'm guessing the dimensions are to close so you would just have to try them out.

150 Series security-Six grips!

Brufener:

I sent you a private message regarding the correct grips for an 150 Series Security-Six!

The old style and new style were both pretty atrocious from the factory. True, the new style had a better grip angle, but third party grips made the old style more than suitable. The old joke was that Bill Ruger had only one tree and he was still making grips from it.

Anyway, here are some photos that may help you out.

Jack Sukenik has the pair in the second photo for sale for five bucks. He's at 903-457-5770 or 903-456-1496.

Good luck.
