I have its brother. Can't beat it. Get a set of Hogue rubber "monogrips" for it. I've fired many, many, thousands of mag and .38 rounds through it for 20+ years. Still shoots great.

I picked up a 4" Security 6 last weekend for $325 OTD. It has a smoooth trigger. The trigger and hammer also have a jeweled look to them. I'll get some pics this weekend of it.

.............did good at that price, especially for NIB. I just picked up a SS Security of the 2 3/4 flavor. $375 for the firearm, one Bianchi shoulder rig, one Bianchi OWB holster and one cylinder short of three hundred rounds of 200gr SWC. I think I got real lucky on that deal. Prices on these Sixes are going through the roof. Bought a blued Speed Six last fall for $400. Person I bought it from said he hardly used it and I believe it. Grip checkering looked like fresh cut wood and no drag line.

Where do you get sights that have the white rear sight and the red front sight? Im 99% sure the sights on the gun were pure black. Is it just painted?

They look like Millet aftermarket sights.

I have owned several SS's over the last 40 years -they are

the toughest revolver ever made,very reliable. They generally take about 20 years of use to wear them in and smooth them up, but I know of very few that have worn out at all. PA State Troopers were issued a stainless Security Six, 6" barrel back in the mid-late 1970's...They looked pretty impressive carrying them, too.

I have seen very few for sale in the last year or so-people hang on to them.

Excellent choice for a .357 revolver, and at a great price for a NIB example. I've got two of these, both 4", one is blued, the other is stainless. The stainless one was my father's issued duty weapon, and has had many a round fired through it, and has a super smooth action. The blued one I picked up used a few years ago, and it's the one I carry the most.

I'm picking up a SS 4" Security Six in great condition this week. Is $300 a good deal? I handled it once already, can't wait! It also has Pachmayr grips. An older gentleman had it in his collection until he recently passed.

My next question is tough. I hate having too many holsters. Are there any open ended holsters that would fit this Ruger, a Taurus 6 66" 6-shot and a Taurus 617 2" 7-shot?

Concur that they're Millet after market sights. BTW, back in the '80s before there was such a thing as tritium night sights, we used to put white out on our front sight blades. It made it easier to see and use the front sight in the dark.

Sprale - you're almost stealing that Ruger. At $300, after factoring in inflation, it's cheaper than the $172 I paid back in the late '70s for mine. Gold was less than $300 back then.
