Ruger Single Six Hunter....Whatch think?

My Single Six isn't the Hunter version, but I love it. Very fun to shoot, very solid, choice of LR or magnum, good accuracy and it's a nice change from the more typical handguns. I like the sort of "old west" feel mine has to it.

The gun is very muzzle heavy and the grips are a little small for my hands. Having said this, I love mine. I initially had some accuracy problems, but after I figured out a grip that worked for me, I found it to be a tack driver. Awesome, beautiful gun. I'd buy another Hunter if I had to do it again.

With the 7.5" barrel, your .22 mag velocities will be faster than a rifle chambered in .22 lr.

First firearm I ever owned was a Ruger Single Six with an extra cylinder for the 22 RF mag. That was over 50 years ago and I still have and shoot this old timer, it is still one of my favorites. I taught my wife and my two sons to shoot a revolver with this Ruger SS and one of them will own it some day. I still take it for walks in the woods occasionally with hammer down on an empty chamber. :)

Got my single six in '76. It has most of the blue worn off and lots of character. My "back-door gun" is a single six w/mag cyl. I have shot it so much, it is what I feel most comfortable with.

Gotta love those ol .22's The Single-Six is a classic.

I don't know about the older ones, but mine has a transfer bar and Ruger says it's safe to carry hammer down fully loaded.
