i have a ruger single six with dovetail rear sight ( drift adjustable)

does anyone know where i might be able to find a replacement that is also height adjustable like the rear sights on a ruger 10/22 carbine.

thanks

its a 22lr/22mag if that helps.

Right!

Any replacement adjustable rear sight would be taller then the one in the gun, and would not work with your front sight.

I think maybe MMC made one years ago for the early single-six that hung over the rear of the frames top strap enough to work with the standard front sight.

But that was then, and this is now.
That model Single-Six is long out of production and they no longer make those sights.

the main reason i need a new rear sight is that when i bought the ss in march it was very loose. its from the 70's so i didnt think much of it. and it was a three screw model for a good price. over the last few months ive shot about 500 rounds and the sight will not stay in. i figured while im looking for a new one i would consider my options. based on what your telling me im just going to order a replacement from Brownells.

You can tighten the sight you have.

Use a center-punch to throw up some burs on the bottom of the sight.
That will raise it in the dovetail and make it tight.

Or, clean all the dried dirt & oil out of the dovetail and use some Blue Lock-Tight on it.
Let it set to cure overnight, and it won't move again unless you want it too.

You can also drill a tap and hole for a set screw. It is what I had done to my 41 Special Single Six. Regarding your zero issue. You can file the top of your rear sight a bit, shoot, file, shoot, ... and get it closer to zero. I would do this at 25 yards, minimum though. If the slot depth gets too small you can file it a bit to get it back where it was. If you screw it all up, I have a half dozen rear blades and I can send you one. With the caveat that I am in the Middle East and will not be home for a month or two.
