Ruger Single Six transfer bar?

I have an old 3 screw Single Six,20 years older than I am,that was at some point fitted with a transfer bar.This transfer bar broke last week while teaching an NRA Basic Practical Pistol class,bit of a bummer.Is this transfer bar different to the part in the new model or can I order one from Numrich to fix my gun?

Just got off the phone with Ruger and the answer is no.They want me to send it in and that's fine I guess,just didn't want to have to pay $$$ to ship it to them for a $4 part I could easily replace myself.

I would have just ordered the transfer bar. For legal reasons they overreact when they hear the word "three screw." There have been a number of reports of those bars breaking and I can't figure out why. The stainless seems to be brittle on some of them.

According to the woman I spoke to at Ruger,the new model transfer bar won't work.I was hoping someone with Single Six knowledge could confirm/deny that the part will work.It didn't originally have a transfer bar but they offered them as a safety retrofit,just don't know what changes have been made.I understand the liability issue perhaps for not wanting to send it back but it's about impossible to louse up installing.

Ruger was sued a bunch of times by people who dropped an old model single action and shot themselves when it hit the floor. For years, they advertised a free recall and upgrade whereby they would retrofit a transfer bar safety system and send back the original parts for collector value. I suspect they just want to get their hands on the revolver and make sure the safety is installed and working properly. They are EXTREMELY sensitive about that particular issue.

Of course, Ruger has a long standing reputation for standing behind their products 110% and being willing to fix anything, regardless of age or cause. I wouldn't hesitate to send it to them.
