I lef the shop with a brand new Single 6 Convertible and didn't realize the gun I had was not the adjustable sights model. I was too excited I guess after all the complications getting it in the first place. A scoped 22mag could be a fun small game set up. I will be contacting the shop about this unfired and new gun. :banghead: I have a wild and crazy question now that there's a chance I'm keeping it.

CAn one tap be drilled where the Adjustable Sight tap would be so that I can then mount a Weigand rail? I'm afraid that the top of the receivers look different but I can't tell from the pictures for comparison.

Thank you for any advise.

Single Six

Hoshua1: sir; being a single six owner and shooter; Adj. sights are 'my' must.
Realizing that maybe you didn't get what you thought you were getting; maybe going back and asking about swapping?
Sir; you will get accurate with the unit. I am not sure about mounting a scope.
Try going to Rugerform.com They are all about Rugers. You did get something to enjoy for the years to come.:)
Follow up with what you decide.

I have a high standard double nine that has fixed sights that is a terrific shooter. It will shooter quarter size groups at 25 yds with good ammo that is about 1 to 1/2 inches to the left. From a bench rest of course. I probably could drift the rear sight but I never did feel it necessary. You can always use kentucky windage and bet your buddies you can beat them with this gun. Try different ammo and you may not need adj. sights........but I don't know much

My Single-Six has the fixed sights, but since I'm not using it as a 'small-game hunter', it didn't really matter to me.

Yeah, the .22Mag with a scope does have a great deal of Hunter potential.

As deanodog stated, try a whole messa different ammo....

1. You find what works best in YOUR gun

2. You get to shoot it A LOT!

Depending on the model there isn't expected to be many of some of the fixed sighted Single Sixes made. Maybe hold onto it.
Regarding the question, since the topstrap is radiused, I don't see the mount for the adj sight model working as it should.

As for "swapping"...it's been papered so it's now a used gun techinaclly. Fired or not, it's been put in the bound book so trade in will be at a decent loss and the intended one would require the paperwork & background check again.

Got a good shake in the end. I have a fancy for rabbit and squirrel hunting. I wanted to use that Single6 with a 4x scope as a skill reinforcer. Sounded like a fun way to stay sharp. Traded it back. Cut and run.

Then there's the fact that I was followed twice this deer season by a bear and I don't own a defensive side arm. My rifle scope has a low power of 6 so in close timber trying to interface a scope is dicey. JUggling priorities. Good thoughts
