I bought a Ruger SP101 .22lr in about 2014.
Horrible gritty stiff trigger pull and it occasionally spit lead!
So disappointing!
I returned it to Ruger and one of the gunsmith's replaced the MIM hammer and trigger with investment cast parts and smoothed the action!
I received the gun with a very nice trigger except for the very stiff pull attributed to the 16# hammer spring!
I partially disassembled the gun, did a little polishing and added a complete shim kit.
I stoned the hammer nose to allow a little deeper firing pin protrusion.
I then installed an 8# Wolff trigger return spring and a 11# hammer spring with a .036 washer on top of the spring. The washer adds just the right amount of tension and makes the spring seat better on the strut!
The end result......A glass smooth light action that still sets off All the rim fired cartridges even in double-action!
Single-action pull a crisp 3#!
It's an absolute pleasure to shoot!
Especially with the Pachmayr Diamond Pro grip!
I Love this gun now!
