i own both and like both. don't know which one to take if i have to bug out. this would be an urban/suburban bug out.

assume i can't also take a long arm with me. plenty of ammo available for both.

which would you choose? i'm thinking either one would be a good choice. either/or??

Bill

Since you're talking about urban/suburban I would go with the .45 ACP - a man stopper. All around (urban & woods), the .38/.357 would be my first choice. As always, YMMV.

Which one do you shoot better in general? Which one do you shoot better going fast?

If it's the same gun both times, take that one.

I purposely moved to the .45acp over the .357 just for urban carry. While I love that the .357 eats two calibers, and I certainly would like a long barrel hot and peppy .357 round for woods carry, I simply shoot the .45 better. On the plus side, the .45 doesn't seem as loud or as blinding as the .357.

So, for me I like the .45, but I certainly wouldn't feel undergunned with either.

I'm a big fan of the Ruger Six series, so I would go with that. I particularly like the versatility of the .357 magnum. But, I am admittedly biased in favor of revolvers. Actually, a Six-Series Ruger in .357 would be my preferred weapon for most any situation in which I really thought I might need a sidearm.

However, Glocks and Rugers both have a fine reputation for ruggedness and reliability, so you should probably just go with whichever one feels more natural to you.

My thoughts are identical to 6 gunners. I'd personally take the .357 (I don't shoot Glock's well at all), but you should take the one you shoot best, if not both of them.

I'd go with the Ruger, but like others, I like revolvers

And, another vote for considering which one you shoot best-

I would take the versatility of the Ruger and usable ammunition

That's my opinion, YMMV...

Unless it is a Katrina-like disaster, I would stay in my house with all of my toys - I cannot foresee any scenario where exposing yourself on the street with only a handgun would be a smart move. JMO

I'm more afraid of a man with a .357 than one with one of those plastic pistols.
I'm not up on this "bugging-out" thing.

I'm old enough now, that relatives need to come to my house if they want to visit.

I'll stay home. Them young 'uns can bug out if they want to. I'll give 'em an MRE if they can make it to the house.
We'll shoot squirrels in the back yard if we run out of MRE's.

G30. Totally reliable, very accurate, 10+1 rounds of .45, at a decent price. End of story.

Keep in mind, being "good" with a revolver you only shoot single action doesn't mean squat, unless you're only going to hunt with it.

Since you ask "which one for SHTF" then you better be able to shoot well DOUBLE ACTION.

If you can shoot the G-30 better, then, as I said in my first post, you need to go with the gun you're best with in general and going fast.
