Ruger Super Blackhawk on the way

I have had a few over the years but the one that won't get sold is my late brothers three screw he bought new around the mid sixties. Almost 100%.

I paid $800 a few years ago for the 7.5 inch which was a little high at the time (Armslist mail order, with risk). But an unfired Bisley with flutes was just what I wanted (no longer unfired). The 3.75 inch was a local sale several years ago, $550. If @Mark_Mark SBH has the factory box in my opinion it's a fair deal. I prefer local sales.

New in box for $810, I’ll go take a peek! and post a few photos

My brass grip framed SBH is the first centerfire gun I ever shot. I bought it for $65 in '71 from a high school classmate whose father gave it to him as a birthday present(!). He'd attempted to fan it with live ammo and dropped it, knocking the ejector assembly off (which Ruger gracefully replaced for free). He didn't even want to touch it after that. I will admit it took some work to rid myself of my initial flinch. Those early Browning factory .44mag loads were STOUT.

Good choice and in a very "Packable" barrel length. But it's gunna be LOUD and the muzzle blast will be just short of heroic; though you don't have to stuff it with full house magnums all the time. For day to day use, Skeeter's old reliable: 240 gr LSWC backed by 7.5 gr of Unique in Special brass or the same bullet with 8.5 gr of Unique in Magnum hulls. Either is plenty for 99% of legit uses here in the lower 48 and entirely controllable.

I never picked up one of the Ruger Magnums like yours, but did find an 'as new' .44 Special Flat Top that's a frequent companion here on the farm; and I usually carry with Skelton's prescription. The grips on it BTW are black/white ebony that I made up myself with a bit of 'gunfighter' flare in the mid section. Best Regards, Rod

Dave DeLaurant...did you have any fitting to do with that Belt Mountain cylinder base pin? I have a 3-screw old model Ruger BH in .41 Mag that likes to shed the factory pin and have considered the BM. Best regards, Rod

Those grips are nice and give it a very "Fanner 50" feel. You have a derringer belt buckle and some Greenie Caps to go with that?

Nope....LOL...probably couldn't see the belt buckle!! Rod

Well I took out the 6inch GP100 and the new Blackhawk. Fired about 50 357's for my warmup haha.

Seems if I havent shot my 44s in a while, it's "Holy sh@!" followed by a big grin. This one was no different. I put 150 magnum loads and about 30 44 specials thru it. This is definitely going to be a common companion at the range. I highly recommend one.

As a added bonus my dad brought out his 5.5 inch stainless flattop in 44 special. I'm still grinning as I post this. What a great day at the range.

I have a Ruger Super Blackhawk 1989 model.
5 -1/2in barrel, it's blued. They're terrific gun.
I just can't wrap my head around the non-fluted cylinder though. I don't know why I just like the more traditional look.
But Super Blackhawks are definitely a Ruger to have shoot and cherish

don’t the non flute make it stronger?
