I second guessed myself for missing the opportunity to get a 610 S&W for a reasonable price back when they were common. When Ruger came out the 10mm SRH it surprised me. While I understand the GP100 is a little small for a 6-shot 10mm it would seem the Redhawk would have been a more logical choice. In any case I wanted to get one before Ruger stops production and the 10mm SRH performs as good as I hoped. The SRH shot everything well and some loads were exceptional. The big advantages the revolver has are cylinder length and strength. I am mostly an iron sight shooter but load development is much easier with a scope. The SRH platform permits you to put the scope on for testing without upsetting the iron sights. I tried a couple of bullets in the 200 grain range, both were good but a NOE gas checked cast bullet that weighs 203 grains shot the best. The only issue I had was the scope mount kept coming loose so I would use some blue loctite if I was going to leave the scope on.

I shot this target and the shots started drifting right through the second five shots even though they felt good. The group was still very respectable, 1 9/16" @ 25 yards.

I changed the load a little bit and I was surprised how low the first 2 shots went on the target, in the 7 ring and not that close together. I checked the scope and it wiggled noticeably at the front mount. I tightened the scope with the small screwdriver I had with me and the SRH put the next the next 3 shots into the same hole at 25 yards. I made a guestimate on the scope adjustment and the SRH put the next 5 shots into 7/8" @ 25 yards.

I had 6 rounds left so I put a target at 50 yards and shot the remaining 6 shots. The last shot felt good but it drifted a little right. I checked the scope mount with my fingers and you could turn the front screw with your fingers. Even with the loose mount it grouped 2 1/8" @ 50 yards.

I am very pleased with the revolver and this one is a keeper.

Thanks Craig. I was hoping it would be pleasant to shoot due to the weight, it is, but the accuracy was way better than I expected.

What's the barrel length on that one? What's nice about this is that factory 10mm is probably much cheaper than traditional magnum factory rounds.

About the same as 357. In price, power, fun, everything except availability. 357 is at every Wal-Mart that stocks ammo. 10mm is a fairly rare caliber to stumble across... But a man with dies, brass, bullets, powder, and 225 factory loaded rounds on hand isn't very concerned about that. I keep looking at 10mm options, this is one on my short list. I still favor the EAA witness.

To be fair, .357 mag. pickings are pretty slim at Wallyworld. I think you can find a 158gr. JSP load there but that's about it. I agree 10mm is a bit rarer but most stores that have any selection of one will have the other. I like Witnesses too but they seem apples to these oranges to about as great a degree as possible considering the common chambering.

Nice shooting! The accuracy potential is definitely there once you got that loose scope mount tightened down.

Nice! What's your intended use for this revolver, and as a follow up to that question, what load do you think you'll end up with i.e. bullet weight and velocity?

I bought one when they were first released. I have a scope on it now but not when I first shot it.
(I have the same Simmons scope in matte stainless)

It is a very good shooter. It is quite accurate. I am very pleased with this revolver.

I also hoped we would get a GP-100 in 10mm. I figured the SRH was a little large for the 10mm, but it is worth it.

We have a lot of revolvers but you never have too many accurate ones. No specific plans beyond target shooting and maybe use it to hunt some. The 203 grain NOE bullet shoots great so that is the bullet but I never say never so something better may come along but I don't see that likely. Accuracy to me is far more important than velocity but that said the 203 load is not slow and is in the 1300s out of this 6.5" revolver.

Wow I love it,awesome!

The SRH is a better gun, a more refined design and better suited to mounting optics, not to mention better grip options. The guns weigh the same.

I love the 10mm caliber! One of my all-time favorites. I am lucky enough to have a 610, 310NG, G20, G29, and G40. And a Kriss Vector. I never bought any factory ammo, just the components. Easy to reload.

It's just uglier but I think a lot of people are under the impression that it's larger and heavier than the Redhawk but it really isn't. Just looks that way.

I often consider having the 610 cylinder reamed out to accommodate 10mm mag. I know it can be done, but haven't found a good source yet and I've been busy with other projects.

If your handy you can do it your self with a piloted hand reamer and a tap handle. Go slow and measure head space often. Some one over at AR15.com did a thread on how they reamed their Super Redhawk 10mm Auto to 10mm Mag. I thought about doing it to my 610 also but instead bought a M29 configed just like my 610 except blued. 6.5 inch full under-lug, round butt.

I may try that once I get some other personal matters taken care of, thanks!
