Ruger Takedown - Does this look right to you guys? (pic)

Hi,

I disassembled my Takedown for cleaning today and had some difficulty initially with the bolt and putting the trigger group back into the receiver.

I think I finally got it but I'm not sure. Would someone be so kind as to grab their Takedown and compare to how the bolt on yours compares to the way mine looks?

Also, could you check out the gap where the stock and the barrel end come together?


I noticed the gap before of course. But I'm wondering if the gap should have an even width from top to bottom. Mine is much narrower at the top and wider at the bottom.

How does yours look compared to mine?

Does yours have that little space right at the forward end of the bolt also?

(Can you tell I'm a little nervous about this)?

And the gap on yours where the stock and barrel are joined is much narrower at the top than it is at the bottom?

I remember the gap was there but I don't remember it increasing in width so dramatically on the way down.

While it does not look "right" to me I can see where Ruger may find it acceptable especially in the initial production runs.
If you look at their web site it shows a significant lower gap but nearly equal at the top. I guess it'll be up to you as to whether this queers the ownership for you or not.
It certainly is better than too tight which I can assure you is shat Ruger really does not want especially in thermal variables.
Honestly, were it mine and were it to bother me (probably would) I'd shoot it a bit and later work those lines parallel on my own.
 
Shouldn't be taking the receiver apart to clean it anyway. It's unnecessary and shouldn't be done but every several thousand rounds at the most. I've got a $900 "tactical" that I shoot all the time but it hasn't been broken down in three or four years.
 
I had never really noticed, but upon closer inspection mine is exactly the same.
 
Thats like taking a hood off of a vehicle then work on the hood and put it back on. You notice every little gap that you didnt earlier.:)
