Rural King

A new Rural King just opened 10 minutes away from my house. Its a great store. I haven't bought any guns there yet, but they do seem to have good prices and a good supply of ammo. Unfortunately, the counter people seemed to be on about the same helpfulness level as Walmart, and Dick's Sporting Goods. But, what else can you expect?

I stop by ours pretty regularly just for a free bag of popcorn. It's usually pretty tasty. I always end up buying something, so that plan works for them.

Nothing within 100 miles of KC. I've heard of them, but I doubt I'll ever go to one.

Just as a FYI per corporate RK stores will not sell you a firearm until you pass NICS. If you get a delayed they will NOT sell to you until you get cleared. The law says that they can sell it to you after 3 days, their corporate policy is not to until they get a go ahead from NICS. And since NICS is currently not even trying to clear delayed checks that might take a while.

Discovered this while trying to help my BIL.

They have good prices and for a nongun store an EXCELLENT selection of gun gear along with their other merchandise.

I just so happen to be In Paducah Ky just this moment. I got introduced to RK about 5 weeks ago working in the area. The gun prices are ok but I was more surprised about the quantity of guns. They got a good many.

Last year they offered a .22 semi (looked like a .45 govt) for about $260 then they gave you a $260 rebate in the form of a "store card". I don't know why I didn't do it...:banghead:

You had to buy a full size 1911 for 500 bucks to get the card. You bought the 500 dollar gun and the 260 dollar gun and they gave you the card for the value of the 260 dollar gun.

The ad was very misleading and it made many people mad.

Anybody know the closest Rural King to the Cleveland area that sells guns?

When I was looking for a 3.5" M1911, somebody directed me out to the Elyria store, which doesn't sell guns.

Don't know it its the closest, but the Wooster, OH store does. Its probably over an hour from Cleveland though.

I headed for that one once I left Elyria and got lost, since that's literally the ONLY reason for me to be in the area. I ended up punting and going to Fin, Feather, and Fur in Middleburg Heights. I bought a Citadel 3.5 CS there for a decent price.

Still I'd like to try out Rural King at least once, maybe for a Commander sized gun.

Funny, but after I made the post, I thought Fin Feather and Fur might be a better option. Their prices are good, and have a better selection because they are actually a sporting goods store.

Not surpirsed you got lost trying to find Rural King since they rerouted US30. Now you have to exit 30 and get on Lincolnway East which used to be the same as US 30.

Rural King is awesome! It's like Hillbilly Heaven. I got a Savage Axis Heavy Barrel .223Rem for $265 after tax. However, I got it in December so I also got a $50 savage rebate bringing the total cost down to $215. II wasn't necessarily looking for such a rifle, but I just couldn't pass up that deal. Most places sell that exact rifle for $300 or more before tax. I got the last one in stock.

Rural King had RIA 1911's for on sale for $352 recently and they looked to be models with the skeletonized hammer and trigger.

I asked about ordering and it was a no go... at least at the new phili store in ohio... they said it was corporate and they get what they get ...

the only thing that really annoyed me was the "manager has to walk you out of the store" policy they had. It did not make sense to me and you have to wait for the manager. Makes
no sense for him to have to escort me out when my ccw was on my hip ...

I think walking someone out is more a factor so you don't scare the customers if they don't have one in box and also so you don't shoot the place up even though you can go out and come back in.

Yeah, I thought the whole "Thanks for purchasing this rifle from us. Now you have to wait for the manager to come walk you out." is pretty stupid.

For one, they have no legal grounds to stop you from walking out. After you buy the firearm, just like anything else that you buy, you own it. You own that firearm every bit as much as you own the shoes that were on your feet when you walked into the store.

This same concept also applies to stores such as Walmart or BestBuy whose employees ask to see your receipt as you walk out. You have no legal obligation to show them your receipt. None whatsoever. This even extends to when you walk out of the store and an alarm sounds because the alarm system is malfunctioning or the cashier did not deactivate anti-theft devices. As long as you paid for the items, you can keep on walking. They can request for you to stop and show them your receipt, but as long as you paid for the items, they legally belong to you, not the store, they can't exercise control over those items, and you do not have to show a receipt, stop, or heed to their demands.

With that said, while store policies like escorting you to the door or checking receipts bother me, it's typically easier and quicker to simply comply with the policy instead of arguing about how they can't force those measures upon you.

I find they are not any cheaper on guns unless it's one that is on sale that day. Our local gun store has 10%off to military, police, fire or paramedics every day. I bought a Colt pocket lite as cheap as RK
at our Local gun store about a month ago .
