Russian Ammo = Hotter?

I was pleasantly surprised when I chronied some 7.62x39 Brown Bear ammo I recently purchased. I fired them out of my 16" Yugo underfolder and it was about 55 deg F outside that day.

123g FMJ averaged 2435 fps
125g JSP averaged 2420 fps

I know that S&B and Corbon loads their ammo a bit hotter, but I never knew that the Russian stuff was similar. I was pleasantly surprised as I was expecting mid to lower 2300's.

Have you guys chronied any other Russian ammo? How did it fare?

Across the board with all EURO 7.62x39 loads I've chronographed they all tended to run a good 100 to 150 fps faster than domestically loaded 7.62x39mm ammo of the same bullet weight. I once had a box of 125grn SP barnual that chronied 2500 fps from my CZ527

However this comes as no suprise, domestic ammo manufacturers put out total crap for other european cartridges as well, 8x57 barely gets loaded hotter than 30-30, 6.5x55 and 303 don'tt fare much better

OTOH, Wolf .223 is, in my experience, decently weaker than most standard brass-cased domestic production.

As mentioned, Russian steel-cased 7.62x39mm is hotter than domestic brass-cased, while Russian 5.56x45mm is considerably weaker. Which some people say is supposedly due to steel expanding less, etc. Then why is steel x39mm hotter?

My guess is that it has something to do with the tapered case of the 7.62x39, as opposed to the essentially-straight case of the 5.56. Tapered cases tend to exhibit easier extraction.

he said specifically that Barnaul loaded ammo, and particularly silver bear/brown bear is usually the two hottest, silver B., being number 1.
then down to wolf being slowest. Then american made ammo.

I like those guys... I want to grab a case of that Silver Bear 125g JSP in 7.62x39. Looks like good stuff, and no lacquer to gunk up the chamber.
