Alright so, I'm planning on getting my final 'mandatory' weapon soon- that is, I've already purchased a high tier handgun for carry\shooting (SigTacops 1911 classic), an M&P15 with Eotech and magpul goodies and I just landed a Vepr 12.

So I've covered almost all of my bases except for a .308 rifle, which is really the king of general purpose use. Hunting, target shooting, basic survival stuff.

I'm looking at Remington for the rifle (their 700 series) and I don't think I can go wrong there..

But I have an odd hankering. I don't know what it is, but I gravitate towards chevron sights. Typically they are Russian in origin, though some American companies have incorporated it into their scopes (like ACOG).

So, I was going to try and put a PKS-07 or equivalent Rusky sight on the bolt action. I know, I know, this is totally weird and I'm sure this thread could be grounds for a crusade.

As objectively as possible, can anybody tell me the quality of Russian optics? What would the highest quality one be for a bolt action rifle? Anything on the PKS-07 in particular (personal experience, articles, etc)?

No idea on the PSK-07 but I do have a PSO-1M2 on my Dragunov. It's only 4x power but its really clear. I also like the cheverons.

DUDE you have a Dragunov? Like a real one? A Tigr? Not a PSL?

You are a lucky, lucky man.

And yea, I know I'm strange... I prefer Russian style optics to western ones. I find chevrons easier to work with, more intuitive. So you would say that Russian optics aren't crap then?

I know they're usually heavier (and more durable), but the glass quality is good?
