Pricey for what it is, but should be a nice rifle.

Atlantic Firearms often has discounts for THR members - you might want to PM them and ask.

No, not that one. I do have a Saiga sporter and an Arsenal SGL-21 (saiga converted by Arsenal USA) and both are nice. I am making an educated guess based on the photos and description.

FWIW, you could probably buy an SGL-21 and add a wood stock set, like the new US-made sets from TAPCO that run about $110, and be in an equivalent or nicer rifle for less money.

If you are going to swap out the wood. This rifle looks like it was a converted Saiga too:

You might save some $$, by starting with this one instead of an Arsenal. The last AK I've seen that was a complete POS was an Arsenal. And Arsenal's do not shoot any better than my home converted Saiga. You would probably have to add a gas tube with this one, but would probably save $$ overall.

Adding all the bits to install conventional AK handguards costs about as much as the entire rest of the Saiga conversion together. If you want the authentic look, plan on that, or an SGL-21. If you just want functionality, get a Saiga and convert it yourself, or the gun linked in post #8 would be a reasonable (not great) deal also.

Unless you are dead set on the wood look the Arsenal SGL 21 rifles are the way to go !!

The one you linked to would be cheaper than a retro-fitted Arsenal, and I've heard good things about NoDak recievers and Bulgarian parts in general, but I don't have any first hand experience.

I can only say that I have an Arsenal SGL-20, and I like it a lot. I've seen the Arsenal SGL-31 (in 5.45) listed for $799, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Bulgarian you linked to was just as good. I just can't say with any first-hand experience.

rak ak47

This RAK ak v47 is one of the nicest Russians guns I have owned off the shelf. The woo d finishing is impeccable . Mechanically The gun shoots well and zeros in at 100 yds without a problem. Recoil is less than a 556. Atlantic service was excellent as promised
