Any feedback on S&B primers? Good, reliable? How warm are the standards?

It has been so long since I've seen Rem 7.5's in stock, at a decent price.

S&B makes decent cartridges, as I recall. I've never used their primers in all these years.

S&B primers are great for the price. I bought several thousand a couple years ago from Graf. Not one fail. I will not use S&B brass even if its free.

I bought S&B .380 ammo back when it used to be $6.95 a box just to get the brass for reloading.

It's been great brass!

I also have reloaded a lot of S&B 9mm brass.
It's perfectly good brass too!

S&B primers may prove to be slightly harder then some American primers.
It's made to European Mil-Spec standards and tends to be harder primer cups.

Doesn't matter, unless you have a gun that isn't reliable with any ammo anyway.

rcmodel, ahh, there's a name I remember. It's been a few years since I posted here.

I've had good experience with S&B brass too, in 9x19, 45 ACP, and .223 Rem.

I do remember a lot of threads about brittle .357 brass, years ago. And the pistol brass had tight, but not unacceptably tight, non-crimped primer pockets. You would notice seating them on a Dillon, but pistol brass lasts a while, and that's a good thing.

It's good to hear the cups are hard, some SR for a highpower match, and I'd prefer no slamfires.

20K inbound, split between SR, LR, SP, & LP.

Now...if I could only get a few 8lb-ers of Varget...

Every S&B product I have used has been of good quality. I have used thousands of S&B primers with no failures. They are now owned by CBC of Brazil. Most people in the USA know CBC because of their Magtech brand ammo and primers. I like S&B brass for reloading. I think it is excellent brass.

I love the S&B brass, primer pockets stay tight for a long time. I just primed about 1,000 9mm cases for a friend with their primers, I hope to get to test them soon.

I have not heard of any problems with any primer brands, American or foreign. That includes Magtech, S&B, RWS, Tula, Wolf, Lapua, PMC, Fiocchi and probably a few others I don't even know of.

My primers of preference are still CCI followed by Winchester and luckily I can still load with them even today.

I've had very good luck with S&B small pistol primers. They do seat a little deeper (shorter length?) than others.

In my Glock (9mm) never a problem. In a Ruger GP100 (38spc/357mag) I have had a small percentage that would not ignite on the first strike. Went with Winchesters and that solved the problem in that gun.

FYI -- I have reloaded & shot over 5,000 rounds with the S&B primers.

I've used thousands of them. Only got four failures. Two in my Star 30M due to poor technique from my side. Then, the other day I got to failures to ignite in a Glock 17 4th Gen that had a 4'5 lbs connector (could it have to do with that?). Buy them confidently.

My LGS has run out of them and I'm now using Murom (Russian) primers. Slightly harder to seat, but doing OK.

Reloading unlimited has 8lb varget as of yesterday
At $35-$40 a pound, they can keep it. That is higher than local prices which are already higher. And you still need to add the hazmat fee. They are selling the $16 9oz bottle of Trailboss for 31.99. If you add hazmat that is over $50 for a 9oz container.

Sorry for the negativity. But this is price gauging. My prerogative to wait.

S&B primers are great, I have used many with no problem.

I cant speak for their primers but I positively love their brass. Wish I had some more. Tight primer pockets + good neck tension=happy me
