The 19-5 is fairly recent. A post P&R gun likely from the 1990s.

The 65 is stainless, not nickel.

The Taurus 83 is a .38 that I think is patterned after the S&W K frame.

Give us the first 3-4 digits of the S&W serial numbers (on the bottom of the grip frame) and lots of folks here can get the date down within a few months to a year. Both 19-5 and 65-3 production was from 1982-87. I can't help you with the Taurus. Sorry.

Looking at the picture, the 19 looks to be a 4 inch police weapon, at least in configuration. S&W can give you more specific info on thier two if you are willing to pay. Date of manufacture, configuration as made, where it went originally. You can get the request info off the S&W website. Another good resource is the S&W Forum. Hope this helps.

sn.#

1st # is AJA53** (S&W Mod 19-5)
2ND # is AUA17** (S&W Mod 65-3)
Both they both have other #'s stamp in them I know 1 or 2 of them where put in by the who owned them befor but some of the # look like they were put in by the maker. Thanks for any help.

The 19 was the standard of S&W K frame .357's for many years. The 65 is a fixed sight stainless K frame. Two of the most popular .357 revolvers ever made. Alot of those other stamps and numbers are assembly marks used at the factory to keep track of who did what with what part and when. They have no meaning outside the factory. Unless you have reason to believe they are historically important, I would not get them lettered from S&W. It would not seem worth the money for me to know exactly when they were made and where they were shipped. They are both perfectly good, reliable, well made revolvers.

The AJA range shows 19-5 made somewhere between July and November of 1985.

AUA range came between January of 1986 and July of 1987.

Both dates from the Standard Catalog of Smith $ Wesson Second Edition.

That's as close as I can come. As I said, for some bucks, S&W can nail it.

There are other markings on the frame in other locations, Model numbers, assembly numbers, etc. The guys at the S&W forum can help with those. They can usually tell which one's are from the factory, and process of elimination would leave the others to some owner(s).

Hope this helps.
