How much (if any) size difference exists between the .38 Spl J-frames such as Model 36/442 and Model 60/640? Will the same holsters work for either one?

For example I noticed that my M&P340 doesn't fit in my 442 Kramer pocket holster because of the full underlug on the 340's barrel.

I am considering adding a steel snubbie to the two lightweights above that I own, wondering if holsters will work for the new gun.

I know several of you guys own both, I'd appreciate your opinions. :)

All J-Frames are the exact same size, except as you noted, some recent ones may have slightly different barrel contours.

A model 60 is just a stainless steel model 36, which is blued carbon steel.

If they are both .38 Specials with the same barrel length, they are the same size. If the M60 is a magnum, it will have a quarter-inch longer and ejector-rod-shrouded barrel, as well as some frame/cylinder differences, making it larger.

My Model 60-9 (.357) will not fit in some closed end holsters listed for 2" J frames, some others work. Best to try the holsters on one to check the fit.
