I’ve recently taken ownership of this “Lemon Squeezer .38 S&W. I was corrected RE: the cost of a “Jinks” letter. I’m lettering 2 S&Ws.
Current cost is $100. each. Still worth it in my mind. Who knows the as-yet-disclosed provenance...perhaps some naer-do-well’s hide-out piece. The second Smith to be lettered is another recent acquisition: a 1905 HE 6” 32-20.

The safety on the back strap and pins/screws, I’ve Nitre Blued.

Mother of Pearl “shoes” were added.

Great find. You may find that some sort of Policeman or Private Detective may have owned it as these provided a snag free draw from a pocket holster

I have many such top breaks...
Top (top) H”R bottom IJ. Note inset 2” “bicycle barrel”/cylinder IJ.
Middle top Schofield (bottom) Colt SAA. Both cartridge air guns.
Bottom top obviously not a top break...tho still pretty neat H&R Safety Hammerless DA only.
Bottom IJ.
