I friend of mine gave these to me and I was curious if anyone new how old they are? I called Smith and they stated S&W never made bullets just licensed companies to make them using the S&W logo. Any concerns with corrosive primers? I plan on reloading the cases once I shoot them. Thanks.

They were most likely made by Fiochi in the mid 1970's. S&W even offered ammunition in calibers they didn't make firearms for under the licensing agreement at the time, i.e.: .380 auto.

You'll find several different headstamps on S&W brass. They can be marked S&W, S&W-F, etc.

They were never loaded with corrosive primers.

If the box is full, a S&W collector might be interested. You could check on the S&W forum to find out, but the box is pretty rough, so it wouldn't bring a lot.

Hope this helps.

S&W ammo was sold in the early 80's. It was by and large crap in our experience then. Not unsafe just lots of misfires.

The deal was to get a Model 29 the shops in OKC had to buy 2 CASES of the stuff for each pistol they got. Not good for sales but they were getting almost 2X's retail for the 29's then.

S&W and S&W-Fiocchi brand made mid-70's through early 80's. Made by several manufacturers including Winchester, Federal, AMRON, and with components made by others including Norma and Starline. It is collectors ammo. Several years ago, before I started collecting, two-thirds of the S&W-F 9mm I dropped the hammer on wouldn't go off. Sell it to a collector (like me) and buy reliable recent production ammo for shooting. Headstamps can be S&W, S&W-F, AMRON, even blank except for caliber; but lots of manufacturers produced ammo and components for the S&W and S&W-Fiocchi brands.
