Well, I went to the range yesterday and shot 40 rounds of Hornady 200 GR. SST's. The revolver was dead on during the session. I returned home to clean things up and found the yoke loose. If I turn the revolver, barrel down, the yoke would slide out. :cuss:

I placed a call to S&W, they are on vacation until the 11th. What a bummer.

I'm the second owner, the screw was loose and I could see that the previous owner had the same problem. The screw head is kind of buggered, by not having the proper blade. That cured the problem for now.

Would you recommend applying "lock-tite" to the threads. All of the screws were loose.

Yes probably.

1. Take each screw out and degrease the threads in the frame & on the screw with a pipe cleaner and rubbing alcohol or lighter fluid.

2. Use only a tiny drop of BLUE #242 Lock-Tight on each screw so you can get the screws out again at a later date if necessary.

3. Don't mix up which holes the screws came out of.

Order a new screw from S & W when they come back off summer break. I would not put any locktite on the screw since it's already buggered up as you might finishing stripping it and have to take it to a gunsmith to remove it.

Like RC said, put blue lock-tight on all of the screws. Just a tiny drop. This is common on most S & W revolvers and I would think the 460 would be especially bad.

Get yourself a good fitting screwdriver that fits the screws, otherwise they will all get buggered up.

Well, you noted the use of an improper screwdriver blade, so we know you know. The 460 is a beast, so I can see how the screws might shake loose. The blue Loctite is a good idea. If this is your first modern S&W, note the spring and plunger in the yoke screw (S&W took a lesson from Colt on that one) and don't lose them. It won't fit the other holes either.
