A friend of mine mite be selling a s&w 5906. Anybody know what the current price on them are? I was thinking offering 300. Comes with 2 mags. No box or anything. Its not the prettiest of shape, but can't put a percent on it. It woild go good with my other 5 s&w's

When u say not the best of shape are you talking holster wear or scratched and beat a little. I have seen some pretty good ones for $320-350 so 300 might even be a little high. But a friend is a friend and I also would be more likely to give a little more for a gun from a friend.

Wolff has a spring kit. eBay can get you a less banged up set of FACTORY grips (I think the Hogues are sinfully ugly), anything else wrong with it can probably be fixed with polish and elbow grease.

If its a fixed site Novak style rear sight, Midway USA sells a replacement adjustable rear sight if you need it.

In the last year or so I have become a big fan of S&W autos. The double stacks are kind of wide for my hands, but the single stacks are just perfect.

$300-350, more if it is the TSW variant that has a rail and thicker frame rails.

I love these guns, good shooters.

I also love the 5906. Got one a couple years ago when CDNN was selling LE trade-ins for $300. Had holster wear and a nick or two but otherwise in good condition, not fired much. So you did well at $300, they rarely go for less. I also have the lightweight 6906 and like it.

Our local Cabelas has a lot of trade-ins for $430, most the DAO 5946. Way too much of course but I've noticed the nicer ones already have been sold. So there still is interest in the fine old girl. And at $300 it's a heck of a deal for a great firearm!

Excellent guns. Get some aftermarket mags, I think they go to like 17 or 19 rounds.

I've picked up a few lately in the low to mid-$300 range in 90-98% condition.

I bought a 5903 which is basically the same as the 5906 back in 1992.
I paid $375.00.. Wish I still had it. I guess they hold their value.

Good price for stainless model. I paid same for somewhat worn 5904 with 1 mag in '07. My favorite mag is the mecgar 17rd nicklel plated for these if your not into frequent wipes of blued magazines. I found these for under 20 even during winter panic.

Also, I do not consider mec-gar mags "after market" as they make oem mags for various reputable manufacturers including s&w I believe.

Matte finished SS with 2 shiny wear spots in front of the rear sight on top of slide. Discontinued, one 15 rd mag, and wear spots made this S&W 5906 an OK deal. Not pictured, but came with a $25 nylon bianchi fitted holster.

He wanted $300, but accepted $225- $200 for gun & $25 for holster.

They do! Earlier this year I stumbled across a very clean 5903 for $400 with original cardboard box and papers and 3 mags. Firm price but I bought it figuring I'd not likely see one that good again. I also have a 5906 and there's a big difference in weight compared to the alloy framed 5903!

When these guns were still being produced, they were on the higher end of the pricing scale. They are an exceedingly good bargain.
