I just dug mine out of the safe and compared it to my 3906. Although I love both pistols, I found that my hand fit the 659 perfectly. Seems it was criticized by some as being non-ergonomic. Is it just that my hand fits the 659 perfectly (while others found it unwieldy), or are the critics wrong?

Not only do I have a 659, I have a 5906. I like that gun a great deal too, but think the 659 has been a bit maligned. People spend over a grand for 1911 pistols and don't think a thing about it; however, some complain that the S&W pistols are too heavy.

What do you think about the first, second, and third generation S&W 9mm pistols? I think the Smith 9mms are very well balanced. I also don't think the company could produce the guns now for anywhere near what the used guns are going for, especially the steel ones.

Also, do the 559s have any collector's value? I used to have a 559, but dropped it when the stainless models came out. Now I wish I had held on to it.

The first generation had some problems with jamming, but S&W fixed the problem.
