I just picked up a very slightly used Mod 66-5 with a 3.25" barrel. (yes, 3.25" as measured and marked on the box) I paid $400.00 for the gun with box and papers, a set of Eagle finger groove grips, 3 speed loaders, and an El Paso Sadlery holster. The deal was too good to pass up, but I have never encountered this particular incarnation. It is a 66-5, pre lock, shipped with fired case. It has a factory High Vis front sight, and a frame mounted firing pin. The serial number, in addition to being stamped in the usual place on the frame under the crane, is laser etched on the left side of the frame just below the cylinder. The S&W Product number is 102720. Does anybody have any insight to the history?

They were a special run from a few years back. Great gun, even better price. Do you like the fiber optic sight?

I haven't shot it yet, but the concept of the High Viz appeals to me. It seems like an outline on the rear V would be helpful. Thanks for the response

I have the 66-2 4 1/8" barel and am just starting to reload to take it as a back up gun hog hunting. Was wondering, what is the hots loads you folks have used in them?
