First one I have seen in 3 inch. How rare and is it worth 950?

Smith & Wesson Model 940 scarce 3" J frame 9mm revolver, this is a 940 no dash model as new in correct box with all paper work, 3 moon clips, tools.

If I had a spare grand around I would buy it just to post the thing over a bunch of forums as eye candy.

Pretty Cool

And if you like your 9mm revolvers length minimized this snubs for you.

the 940 was made from 1991-1998 the 3 inch was made only from 1991 to 1992 i don't think its worth $950 more like $750 to about $800 one just sold on smith and wesson fourm new in box for $650 plus shipping but that was a good deal on one

Yeh, I would like a 3" 940 as well to go along with my 2". However, the prices are a bit more than I want to pay.

Yes, they are rare, moreso than the 2" versions. I would love a 3" 642 to put my 940 cylinder in.
barring that I would like to get a Ruger SP-101 in 9mm with a 3" barrel.
