Here is a S&W 686 CS-1, 3 inch .357. Beadblasted finish.
Issued to the Customs Service in the 80s prior to Semi-autos.
The 3 inch Models for the suits.
The 4 inch for Duty Officers.
Lots of history, This one was from someone in the Detroit area.
Anyone else have one?
I recall seeing some show up with 4" barrels and fixed sights which IIRC were meant for the Customs Service. I believe it was the 681? Never seen one with adjustable sights.
Very nice! That 686 is a sweet looking revolver for sure. The 3” full lug L frame sure makes shooting magnum loads much more pleasant than the lighter K frames like the Models 13,19, etc.
I bead blasted my 4” 686 plus back when I carried it as a temporary duty gun back around 2003. I like the matte look that these guns have, but my gun doesn’t have anywhere near the panache’ or provenance of your beauty .
I remember looking at the 3" and 4" models and bought the 4" for $279. I did not like the floating hand in it and sold it to a guy at the range that saw me shooting it. He was so impressed that he shelled out the cash on the spot. The CS-1 has been replaced with another gun that pleases me more.
