I was shooting my 3953 (DAO version of the 3913) yesterday when I noticed a problem. The S&W DAO action has two trigger "reset points" - one where the sear partially engages, and one where the sear fully engages. Each point is marked by a "click" as the trigger returns forward. The problem I noticed is this: when the trigger on my 3953 hits the first "reset point" and clicks, it's impossible to pull the trigger rearward. My question: is this typical for S&W DAO actions? Or do I need to take the 3953 to a gunsmith?

I haven't noticed it before, but it's caused a couple of problems when shooting for speed.

Thanks.

I had the same gun......very nice BTW. I dont remember mine doing that.
I think you need to call S&W and see what they say....talk to their repair dept, not just customer service. If doesnt sound right to me.....mine had a nice trigger pull, smooth, med. pull weight and consistant. Reset wasnt a problem with it.
Shoot well.....

I had a 3954 and it is one of the few guns that I truly regret selling. I don't remember mine doing anything like that. It had a very nice, smooth, short trigger pull. I would have someone look at it.

I have a 4553 and the trigger reset clicks twice. It does same as your gun and I have no problems at all. If in dout call S&W but I think that's the nature of the beast.
