I agree, a rifle should leave the factory WORKING properly! However, I know I got this rifle early on and the M&P10 line was new to S&W, so I will give them a little leeway, this time...

S&W did offer to send me a return ticket. However, since I put on a troy handguard, LP gas block, Ergo grip, RRA 2-stage trigger, et. al. I had to use their barrel nut and gas tube (extremely difficult to remove from their gas block). AND I had the rifele dialed in at 660 yds. I did not want to remove everything and return it back to stock just to send it back to them. So, once I determined my gas port was out of spec, I decided to try. Well it worked, so I am happy as a clam. If it gives you fits upon return, check the gas port.

BTW rifle functioning perfectly with the stock buffer, even suppressed with supersonic loads.

Ltorote, yes, I am debating on whether even to send it back to them, when they may not even do anything and say "it functioned fine in our testing" and waste both our time; especially when I am almost certain as to the problem. I am planning on putting a FF handguard on mine as well, and it wouldn't be any trouble to stick a dowel down the barrel and pop a drill bit on the gas port while the GB is already off. I am convincing myself that this is the way to go even as I type it...
