S&W M&P15OR Question

Hey, I picked up a S&W M&P15 Optic Ready Carbine. I want to put a Harris Bipod on it but it didn't come with a sling stud up front. There is a threaded hole up front but that I think could be used for a stud, does that sound right? Also will a bipod fit there with the handguard? Any help would be great.
