S&W M&P9 Series and Burris FastFire III Red Dot Questions

I bought this used and was wondering what series of M&P it is. I am thinking it is one of the early releases if that matters.

I am wanting to put a Red Dot on it and was looking at Burris FastFire III and their adapter mount. Midway Products 668439 & 622328
. Any experience with this combo? I'm willing to look at other options but cost is a factor. Midway pictures and info don't show how these fit together or maybe I don't know what I am looking at.

You have a 1st gen M&P.
If you ever want to get the slide milled, good luck, most won't touch a slide with a loaded chamber indicator.

For a dovetail mount look at EGW. They replace the rear sight, nice mount to figure out if you like red dots on pistols, not something I'd use for serious use.

Thanks for the reply. I looked at EGW and their SKU: 49308 looks like it may be what I am looking for. When you posted that it was "not something I'd use for serious use." is it not solid and keep zero.

If possible get a CORE slide/upper. Or a different gun.

As far as the Fastfire 3 goes, I have one mounted on a 9mm & and one mounted on my 22. Never a single issue with either of them. Once sighted in they never had to be adjusted after 1000's of rounds and over a years use on either firearm. Batterys have never been replaced. Great reddot with an outstanding customer service and lifetime warranty.
