I really like the looks of the S&W Model 10, how accurate would one be at 25 yards. What is the normal trigger pull (DA and SA) for a factory model 10.

Thanks

More accurate than 99% of us can hold. Nice medium pull double action and light single action although I have no clue what it is in LBs. I really like my 10-6. It is one of my favorites. You can pick up a nice used Model 10 from $250 to $300 total money. I don't believe you will regret it.

the model 10 heavy barrel is extremely well balanced and accurate. I would estimate the DA pull at 12 - 14 lbs and SA at 3 - 4 lbs and is capable of 4" or better groups at 25 yards depending on the shooter.

If my model ten only fired 4" groups at 25, I'd trash it. It shoots 1.5" groups at that range all day long with its favorite loads. Pull on mine is about 13 lbs in DA and about 4 crisp pounds in SA. It's very smooth DA, years of cycling. It's an early 60s vintage gun to which I added a heavy barrel. It really does balance a whole lot better than that old 4" pencil barrel and I much prefer it. I got the heavy barrel when the forcing cone split on the old pencil barrel, but it was a good addition regardless. Both barrels shot under 2" at 25 yards and about the best I can do off sandbags at 25 yards with iron sights is 1", so the gun shoots almost as good as I do. Only my 4" Taurus 66 is slightly more accurate and I've had other medium frame 4" guns I've sold that couldn't touch it for accuracy.

Off of a machine rest the model 10 will interlock its shots into one ragged hole about one inch in diameter at 25 yards. Single action trigger pull is usually around 3 pounds, out-of-the-box, and will slightly ease with use. Double action averages 12 pounds.

For me 4" at 25 yards is good because the gun is much more accurate than I am. I only shoot off hand because shooting from a rest is too depressing to see HOW MUCH better the gun is than I am! But I keep working at it. I own a model 10, 25, 29 and a 686 and love them all - for the price S&W revolvers have the smoothest actions I have experienced. There are better actions but you usually pay considerably more.
