A couple years ago there were several 19's with 6" barrels for sale around here. Now they are very scarce..A buddy almost traded one to me, a 19-3, but changed his mind. I can't blame him. They seem to be a hot item now. Is it like this in other parts of the country?

Yes, it is here in Kansas.

Anything old school decent condition S&W is bring 3-4 times what they did a few years ago.

Colt revolvers are even Way Worse!

I don’t know if they’ve become a “Hot” item, but recently they do seem to be a frequent topic on various forums. I bought two 19-3’s so far this year for $400 each. A 4” because I wanted it and a 6” because I couldn’t pass it up for the price.

Sadly it appears so, and the ones for sale ain't getting any cheaper, either.
I think part of the reason 6" are a little harder to find is S&W did not make as many of them as they did the 4" & 2 1/2" models.
Remember the M-19 was intended to be a self defense and L/E duty weapon.

I haven't seen many in my area of Mississippi. Not sure when the last time I saw one with a six inch barrel, but if I have it is now beyond recent memory.

Sure glad I got mine in 1971.

I have $50 bucks in it on a trade, with the box, papers, and the other factory Target grips.

The grips on it are homemade Kansas walnut.

I couldn't afford one now!

Amen to that.

Got my current 19-3 3 years ago for $450.00 all in. It is a 4" bbl. and then that was the popular length. I do like a 6" .357 for maximizing cartridge performance though. Have a couple.

Good luck trying to duplicate the $ 450.00 in good condition.

I have been following prices on the M19 for a while on GB and the Smith Forum. There is a wide range in prices depending on models. The -5 is the first one to not be recessed and pinned and less desirable although still a nice handgun. The 4" bring more than 6" barrels. Then you have numbered grips to the handgun, the three T's and through the tools, box and papers on top of all of that. Box and papers can add easily a couple hundred to the price. I don't claim to be an expert by any means but I picked up a 66-2 (stainless version of the 19) and absolutely love it. Now I feel like have to have a blue 19 and perhaps a Nickel one and then all of the variants and....................

6" Model 19's seem to be somewhat scarce. While I have seen tons of the 4" version, I seldom see a 6 inch in person.

Last year I found a 6" M66-2 in a LGS priced at $340 and bought it on the spot.

I am working on a trade right now for a 19-4 6". Not in great shape, but basically the trade value is going to be about $300. New to S&W revolvers and not really sure if this is a great deal or not.

I do have a 28-2 Highway Patrolman 4" that is in excellent condition, but it usually just sits in my safe.

I have a 66-2 (2-1/2") I bought in the mid 80's for like $150, probably paid too much for it.

And I have a 66-5, also 2-1/2", that I traded a Tec9 for maybe 7 or 8 yrs. ago. I bought the Tec9 for like $400.
