I too have a 625 MtGun in .45Colt. Weight is an optimum balance of weight to recoil, and wearability .
I acquired it about 12yrs ago to carry while hunting in bear country (Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, possibly Alaska.).
I’ve actually carried it in the lower 48, but haven’t been back to AK.
I most recently carried it this past fall hunting elk in upper west Wyoming. Didn’t see any bears, but occasional sign (likely black, not grizzly).
My load of a RCBS SAA 275gr SWC is excessive for most purposes. It’s running 1,000+fps over a heavy load of LongShot (Brian Pierce load…)
Typically, I run the Lee 255gr RFN over 8.2gr of Universal or 9.2gr of LongShot. Either of these loads will completely penetrate a white tail deer at 50yds. It’s VERY accurate! often ragged holes at 25yds. The Lee 200gr SWC over 5gr of Bullseye or 6gr of #231 shoot ragged hoes with mild recoil.
It’s the only N-frame S&W I’ve ever bonded with.
I also previously had a Ruger Redhawk 5.5” (too heavy! Crew served pistol!) and two different BlackHawks that were pathetically inaccurate (barrel thread-choke).
