Does anyone have a recommendation for a good scope mount for an N-Frame that's not drilled & tapped for a mount? The B-Square that atttaches with a clamp in front & a screw in the rear sight screw hole seems like it would be ok for a stainless gun, but would scratch a blued gun. Comments?

Thanks,

R-Tex

I bought a used M27-2 with the B-Square sight you mentioned that clamps to the front sight with 6 alan screws. You're correct, it does seriously mar the finish on the front sight. The pervious owner had the screws so tight the actually damaged (slightly) the front sight itself not just the finish. On this gun it will take more than a re-bluing to get rid of those marks.

Sorry I can't offer another suggestion, but at least you know that this version will do some damage. Wether that's acceptable to you or not is another matter.

best thing to do is sell the 27 to me and buy a drilled and tapped newer .357 if you want to scope it... i used the b-square mount on my 29 and it worked well, the rings on the other hand, just wouldn't cut it...

started with medium weaver rings, had to end up using the high rings.. and still could get them to handle the recoil, could have used another set of rings but i just pust the scope on my neos....

now i have 6 round marks on my front sight :fire:

but if that's not an issue, i've got the 8 3/8" silver mount to sell....

If you get the standard three holes drilled for SW scope mounts, check out the Weigand Integra Mount. Rock solid, weaver mounts are flimsy by comparison.

I faced the same problem a while back. After looking over the no gunsmithing mounts, I decided to go ahead and have my top strap drilled and tapped to match the factory patern. IIRC the smith charged me $15 or $30.

The mount from www.jackweigand.com works great. Light weight, strong, and rock solid.

Good Luck...

Mounts

I have around here somewhere a SS mount that fits the sight screw holds on the top strap of a N Frame and the rings and a Tasco pro point All SS if your interested I'll try to find them Took them off my 629 when I bought it a few years ago

Standing Wolf,

I've got red dot scopes on several of my N frame handguns. The UltraDot scopes are the only ones I've never had any problems with. I'm so sold on them, I've stopped buying all others.

Thanks for the info, everyone. And thanks to Airboss for offering his scope. I really appreciate it, but already have a scope.
