I was in a LGS and asked if they had any used S&W model 10's or used Ruger BlackHawks. The guy behind said no they didn't have any. But after we talked a few little I started to walk away, and he said wait, I do have pre-model 10 that had been sent to S&W and had completely reworked and reblued, but it was chambered in .32-20.

If it had been chambered in .38 Spl. I would have bought it but I had just order 2 pair of glasses that cost almost that much.

I do reload, but I would have to find some brass and I'm sure it would be expensive.

They wanted $695 OTD!!! They said they could get me some brass but were not sure of the cost. There was a little mussel ware and it felt like it had 9# trigger, but I have a lite trigger kit for a Model 10.

I would buy it if the price was reasonable and in your budget. The 32-20 is a good round and in the proper gun can match 32 mag ballistics. But 100gr bullets at just 900fps are fun and make fine small game loads and I wouldn't feel unarmed for SD uses either. Brass from Starline is not too bad on price. I have found that buying brass direct from Starline is nearly always cheaper than from Midway or other suppliers.

Howdy

The correct name for that revolver is 32-20 Hand Ejector Model of 1905. This one was made in 1916 and I paid a little bit more than $700 for it a few years ago.

Dunno if you think $695 is too much or not very much, but if I came across another one in reasonably good condition for $695 I would probably grab it.

Starline Brass carries 32-20 cases.

A few years ago, I bought a 32-20 S&W made around 1921.

Recently, I found a Winchester 1873 chambered in 32-20. They make a nice pair.

The cases are relatively cheap and in continuous supply from Starline. If you don't mind lubing its not a big deal. If you get into casting it's one of the more cheaper cartridges to load.

I'd have bought it! Been looking for a clean one for years. Most have done double duty as boat anchors. Seems some think that's what the lanyard ring on some older guns were for...

I have a M1905 in .32-20 . Re-nickeled with some finish loss and some bore roughness but it shoots fine and the action is very good. So when I hear you folks talk about prices that high I wonder what mine is worth. I was going to offer it for sale at $250 . Should I consider moving the asking price up ? (mine is not a collector grade)

I got no idea about your gun, but my rule of thumb when selling a gun (or anything else really) is to start high. I can always come down, but I can't really go up.

I have two of the .32-20 S&W Model 1905 Hand Ejector pistols (1913 & 1922 mfr) with 6" barrels.

They are a real pleasure to shoot.

I handload them using Starline brass and have settled on 100gr & 115gr lead loads with Trailboss propellant.

For such a Smith&Wesson Factory refurbished pistol, I consider $695otd to be a fair deal.
