Hello everyone. My father past away last year and when we were cleaning out some things I found an old Smith and Wesson revolver. I would like to know the model and when it was made if anyone can help me. I would appriciate it.

The number 133940 is stamped on the bottom of the hand grip and on the revolver chamber. On the top of the barrel there are several dates and it says S&W and springfield something...

If anyone could help me I would appriciate it...

That is one old gun. That appears to be a top-break .38 double action. Dates to late 1880s.

S&W serial numbers on these guns between 1884 and 1895 are 119001 to 322700, so yours is at the earlier end of that year range.

Yes, it appears to be a .38 Double Action 3RD Model (1884-1895). Serial number range is 119001 to 322700.

Poor/$60; Fair/$100; Good/$160; VG/$200; Fine/$225; Exc/$275; NIB/$600

This info is from the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson
Second Edition
Authors: Jim Supica and Richard Nahas

Thank you very much. It is nice to know the age. I really didn't know it was that old...
