Its that time again Sacramento THR forumites.

Many of us have not seen each other since the last shoot. I have decided that since this is going to be a summer shoot I am going to let you guys decide on were you would like to meet.

Yolo County Sportmans Association does not have any type of shading so your pretty much in the open all day. That would require most of us to wear SPF 1000. The sun shines right into your eyes in the morning at both the pistol and rifle ranges.

Rancho Cordova Shooting Center has patio coverage at all ranges.

Spenceville has some shade

Indoor Range:

Target Masters in Stockon= pistol only

The shoot is 3 weeks away so I'll let you all decide.

That top 2 choices seem to be the most convient for everyone.

Lets plan on doing some shooting and getting some lunch or dinner.

I might buy a Lee Enfield that is calling my name at Old Sac Armory, and shoot it there.
Hmm...they have some enfields, eh? One caveat to buying the Enfield if it's in .303. Surplus .303 is hard to come by. I've seen some UMC for $8-9 a box of 20. Another rifle you might wanna take a look at is the Mosin Nagant 91/30. Ammo is plentiful and cheap. I think Big 5 is running them on special again for $99. I like the action of the Enfields much better than the Nagant's but ammo is cheaper and easier to find for the Nagant, so you can shoot more.

I should be able to make it; doesn't matter where particular to me- it's long drive from the city to anywhere you pick.

Oh yeah and I certainly hope evil black guns are welcome...

Which Yolo have YOU been going to? ALL of the ranges are covered.

Aren't they?

I guess at dawn and dusk the sun could hit you, but I have always been covered at the stations.

Maybe the short range pistol. Don't remember on that one but the 25, 50 and 100 are covered.

Course you don't get a good DUST covering every time someone pulls into the gravel parking lot like Cordova. And Cordova also offers the fun of the darkest pistol range in the world. Makes good instinctive shooting, though.

heh heh

I can bring the following for sale

if anyone interested. Can do a private party transfer so no 1 per 30 day limit.

glock 30 .45 ACP Like NEW. (may have box but still looking) 2 10 shot mags
$475

beretta 92 LNIB old model pre ban with two (free) orig mags. (can't SELL hi cap mags)
$475

Savage .32 auto M1917. Deep blue with staggered mag. Still the highest mag
capacity (10) for any .32 auto. Same gun as used in Road to Perdition.
$150

Whoever Yolo's architect is, they should demand a refund. Sure, there's a covering, but it's set so far back that when you're on the firing line you're directly under the sun til about 2 or 3pm!! I know, I had the sunburn to prove it. That's why you see some of the regulars with their jury rigged umbrella's. They have a nice facility, 'cept for the covering and the rangemaster who treats all non-regulars as noobs to guns.

You mean you don't ENJOY a RO yellin that he will ...."kick your ????"

I think he LIVES for newbies. I watched him badger some poor soul who couldn't unload his lever action during the cease fire.

I was tempted to walk over and just lever em through. Cept ol "??? kicker" wudda just started hollerin at BOTH of us.

.......Mr. Coward

Let's all bring some Flitz. He COULD use a bit of polish. heh heh

Topgun-

The range at Yolo does have covering but the shade doesnt extend into the shooting areas, only covers behind the cease fire ling until later in the day and to top it off you have a RO yelling about how he is going to violate you if your blood levels arent high enough with lead.

Its all the same to me. Just letting everyone know what they are getting into. Yolo has the vote so far. :)

I'll make sure that I fill my cooler with lots of cold beverages. :) AND SPF 1000 :)

I'll put in that we meet over at the Gunroom in Elk Grove. Since it's in August and probably be hot as heck, why not meet in a nice air conditioned range. It would only be pistol, though.

Hey, where is that new range in Elk Grove?

I had planned to shoot IDPA the 3rd, & will need to ask my Sweetheart about being gone Sat as well.... Some extra groveling may be needed ;) Yolo looks good to me.

I am in. I vote for Yolo. Jeff can be crotchity, as can Bud, but they are two great guys and NOBODY ever gets hurt on their ranges. Yolo has a clubhouse with a refrigerator and full kitchen so bring some lunch and something to drink and stick it in the frig. Should keep the sun at bay.

I'm in for Yolo this time. Just got back from a whirlwind trip in Europe and am itching to go shooting.

will bring my 50, just bought 200 rounds.

200 rounds for the .50 :) Well Yolo does have a commanding lead.

A .50
Black rifles (bring them all ARs, FALs)
Garands
M1As

Heck we should all do a 3 gun thing. Pistol, rifle and shotgun. :)

Anyone up for a round of skeet: (this is were they throw the clay out as far as possible right.....?)

Sounds great to me. I'll give you guys till the end of the week to vote. Then I'll finalize were we meet. It would be alot of fun to share food and water after the shoot.

Darn.. driving to Lake Havasu..formerly home to Prof. Ord. and now Bushmaster. Going to personally pick up my Carbon 15, which Bushmaster upgraded from the earliest model to the most recent model under warranty. Look forward to a reliable Carbon 15. If it is reliable, then it will be a great little gun. Have fun and see you at a future shoot.

Well it appears that Yolo has the commanding lead..........

As with in tradition of our usual Sacramento THR Shoots we shall meet at Yolo Country Sportsmans Association. The range opens at 9am. So let's expect everyone to start rolling in around 11am.

Bring your sunscreen as it may be hotter than blazes and plenty of fluids.

:)

If anyone has any other suggestions such as dinner feel free to chime in.
