Is high velocity .22 lr safe for an old Huntsman in good condition? Specifically I am thinking of a box of CCI Stingers I have laying around.

Also, does anyone know of a place to get aftermarket grips for it? The original plastic ones are starting to crack and I would like to put them someplace safe before they are ruined.

I have 65,000 rounds through a COLT HUNTSMAN. They will gobble up anything that has the notation " 22 LONG RIFLE " on the ammunition box.
NO original HUNTSMAN I ever saw had plastic stocks; all were wood. ANY stocks noted for third gen COLT 22's will fit that pistol, and they are available from just about any purveyor of gun parts.

All 2nd. & 3rd. Gen Woodsman were rated for High Speed ammo.
That includes the Woodsman, Sport, Target, Match Target, Huntsman, Targetsman, & Challenger models.

Only the 1st. Gen guns (1915 - to 1947) were designed for standard velocity ammo, and that changed in 1931 with a phased in heat treated mainspring housing designed for HS ammo.

The Huntsman grips were black plastic from 1955 to 1960.
Then they were Walnut until production ended in 1977.

Try here for factory plastic grips:

I appreciate the feedback. I assume by my plastic grips that my gun isn't a first generation, but is there an easy way to tell for sure?
