Safe but accessible way to store home defense shot gun

Yes. Not only do you never put your finger into the trigger guard until you're on target, you never put ANYTHING in there unless you're ready to actually pull the trigger.

I'm of the opinion that they're about the worst firearms safety device ever made. You've got something fixed right in front of the trigger and you can still load up a gun, chamber a round, etc. They're stupid.

No kids here, but I still keep them hidden. Both are mounted on the wall in my closet behind my shirts. You look in the closet and no way you'd see them unless you knew they were there.

I'd imagine if there were kids, I'd use the factory locks that came with the guns. They're kinda like a small bike lock that keeps the action from going all the way forward.

I guess I was a well behaved kid; never went in my parent's closet when I was a kid.

Wow, you WERE a well behaved kid!

As far as trigger locks go, only my shotgun has one that fits, my rifle and pistol came with the locks that go through the action. And my Mosin Nagant, well, it's a mosin nagant.

That said, the shotty gets leaned up in the corner of my closet, rounds in the tube, so all I have to do is rack it and go. If I sleep in my bed, it is right by the bed. If I sleep on the couch downstairs, the pistol is tucked in arm's reach.

No kids, and the only time kids have seen the inside of my house is when a couple of the neighborhood munchkins were curious, having seen my bike (they were quite taken with it, and what I was doing in the garage in general) they were curious what my house looked like. I was more worried about what they could reach in the garage, and I'll make extra sure I lock it when not out there.
