Looking for a reasonable price closet pistol safe that I can open in the dark by electronic push button with a back up key.

Not interested in bio metric type

We have a couple of the harbor freight small safes by the side door. I use mine a few times per day to check my carry pieces. They work well for that.

The Gun Box....

I saw this new item;
www.Thegunbox.com
It seems rather Sharper Imagey but the concept is cool.

The company claims it won't work "outside the United States" .

I'm not a nut-cracker or conspiracy guy but I'm leery of these "be able to open/use it with your smart-phone" or "you can drive your car hands-free". :uhoh:
I'm sure someone in India or China or Iran might be interested in "control" of it too.

I have had mine for almost a year now. Very nice product actually. The only issue I have had with it so far is the RFID wristband it came with stopped working one day a few months ago, and need to order a replacement. The fingerprint reader was a bit picky when new but has gotten better. Around this time last year they had a deal on "blemished" models but you wouldn't be able to tell looking at mine. On my nightstand it replaced a dead Winchester eVault and an iDapt i4 charging station.

Those problems actually seem like a big deal to me for something your life might depend on. I would keep my handgun safe simple, durable and reliable.

Read this and the replies, some of them from owners of the same gadget. Doesn't seem very durable if it gets damaged just by closing the door on a gun that is too thick to fit properly. Do you know how the backup entry works? Additionally, the more electronics, the less reliable in my opinion. I love gadgets and technology like most guys, but not for something as critical as a handgun safe.

I still have the sticker the unit came with. Actually more convenient than the wristband since I have the sticker on a flat multi-tool I always carry. The wristband was only convenient during night time access.

The gun I keep in mine is a full size Walther with a mounted light/laser. I also keep a spare magazine, a tube of pepper spray, some cigars, and still have room for a lighter to keep away from my toddler. That being said the X300 is too big to be practical on a firearm. But that is another thread.

I do not own a Gun Box safe.
I saw the product described on Instagram by gun channel host & 2A advocate; The Yankee Marshal.
I have mixed feelings about the safe. The high price being a main one. :uhoh:

A critical incident or panic is not the time or place for a gun safe to fail.

QUICK STORY; in 2013, I worked in western PA & drove a rental Town and County mini-van. The vehicle had automatic doors that worked with a key fob. I would use the "remote" to open/close the doors but the crew & staff would pile in, then when the van would stop rush to open the doors.
I'd ask politely for them to wait, but no... they kept rushing in & out. After about 4 days I just reset the doors so they had to be used manually.

Some people can use technology but others can't.
Not all gadgets & features are best for everyone.
