I hear conflicting info about dry-firing rimfire guns.

Is it safe to dry-fire my new Ruger Mark III? There is only one line about it in the manual and that's in the middle of the disassembly-reassembly instructions so I'm not quite sure if that's part of the process or a general note that dry-firing is OK.

I would like to use dry-fire practice to improve my skills between range visits if its safe for the gun.

Most rimfire pistols are not safe to dry fire. Your Ruger is an exception as long as you don't forget to install the firing pin retainer cross-pin in the bolt.

So click away!
