So I've been thinking about buying a Saiga in .308 for about 2 years now, and I've actually seen very little about their accuracy. Can anybody give me a heads up?

very good accuracy...(not mine)

My best groups at 200 meters are very close to 1.75 moa or about 3.5 inches between outside shots. At 100 meters they are around 1.8 inch groups. Excellent little rifle you wont regret it! Recoil and report I find to be very manageable. The only thing better than an AK is an AK in 308!

if you can find one, with the wood furniture; there were two models. one with a hogsback stock, and one with a thumbhole. both have ALLREADY CONVERTED, trigger parts. This will save you time, money, and not using the suckiest trigger ever put on a semi auto, the regular Saiga 308's.
Even with the suck u bus trigger, my 308 with the shorty bbl, was so moa capable; worth every penny. I would pick it up fast, if it is 500 bucks or less.
600 or less if it has the wood furniture.

Oh yeah; very long story short--- sandbag rests, 100 m, randomly loaded rounds, different made rounds, in different made mags. 100 rounds, 2 minutes total time, into a 3 inch shoot n see target, open sites. With about 5 or 6 seconds total per shot, hit the shoot n see 96 times, out of the 100 shots.

all Saiga's factory tested, the group measurement is included with Saiga's documentation, the one I bought had 89 mm 5 shots at 100 meters in US English its 3.5" at 109.36 yards, with handloads I made for it it shot 1 - 1.5 MOA the only thing I didn't like is my brass was ruin -mutilated on ejection, had to give it up after all...

was getting 1-1.5 moa with my 20" thumbhole stock (what they call the 'ver.21') with Federal blue box 150-gr. This takes into account about 1" of climb (from barrel whip I'm assuming) as the barrel goes from cool to hot. I'm very pleased (but not that I overpaid a bit; have seen them since at Mississppi Arms for 6 bills).

How do they compare to the Vepr's?

This is what it looked like when new;

I have yet to measure any groups since the conversion, as I am in the process of scoping it and will wait till then to see what it can do.

These old eyes don't fare well with open sights anymore.

Very good. Mine was under 2" at 100 on a benchrest. The trigger is the limiting factor.

We will see about that :D
I purchased Spooky's Saiga and can't wait for it to get hear so I can run it. Word is the .308 is surprisingly accurate. I want to keep the rifle as simple as possible but I will be adding a Kreb's Peep 1000m rear sight and maybe an XS dot front sight.

Dim, I think you can relieve the brass crunch , with a few steps, I think a diff charging handle, or a rubber covering for it, and then open up, the ejection port at the back, or get a diff cover for it. Check over on saiga12.com, they will know.
