i bought a Saiga(7.62x39) that has allready trigger and mag well conversion done.i'd like to do the front end conversion, just looking for tips on where to get all the parts i need that are good quality, any tips on wood furniture would be great also

Carolina shooter supply is a good company. I've bought from them a number of times. Another good company and place with good info and parts is Dinzag.com

Do you know what parts you need and are just looking for sources or are you seeking information on what's involved?

For the wood furniture, you will likely want/need US made stuff for 922(r) reasons. If so, two commonly used options are Iron wood and the Timber Smith furniture. I cannot vouched for either personally. That is where I would start my research if it were me though.

You can (very carefully) cut the front section of the stock front sight off with a rotary tool and then buy a slant brake that is cut just the right length to match the slightly longer than normal exposed lenght of barrel from dinzagarms. He'll also rent you the tap to thread the end of the barrel yourself.

But aside from being tacticool, I never really understood why everyone feels the need to put a muzzle attachement on a x39 Saiga. The recoil is soft to modest, so there's really no need for a brake. The muzzle raise isn't that big of a deal either, so even the slant brake seems unecesary. It's not like your trying to tame full auto :neener:

+1 on dinzag. He's also a very helpful source of knowledge if you run into any issues with the conversion. Although afterwards you'll think "wow, that was easy! I wanna do another..."

The recoil is not fierce by any means. However, an effective brake, unlike slant brakes and cheap US lookalike 74 style brakes, makes a noticeable difference in terms of muzzle jump and follow up shots. Get a shot timer and try it. Also some folks may want a flash hider. A 7.62x39 saiga can make a pretty good fireball. Maybe neither of those things matters to you and how you use your gun. However, different people have different uses and preferences.

One more source of tools to thread a the barrel is CNC Warrior.
