saiga magzines

I tried some 7.62x39 ak mags in my saiga and they didn't quite fit. As far as I know you can make them work with some grinding and fixing up but I don't like to mess with that type of stuff. I really wish they had hi cap mags.

The mag well opening is designed to have a magazine the same dimensions as a double stack/standard AK mag. With a little filing of the rear locking tap on the magazine you can get a standard hi cap magazine to fit. The single stack AK magazine is much thinner than a standard mag.

Getting it to feed correctly is another story. You would have to modify the gun slightly by welding up a feed ramp to get the magazine to work correctly.

I'm sure you could use a single stack AK mag if you built up the sides of the mag or put a block in the reciever, but in the end you probably wouldn't save much money in mags. I've found the single stack to be more expensive than the double stack.

I would direct you over to the Saiga-12.com forum, but I see you have already found the site. :D

make sure you read up on the law so you know what your doing is legal.

hate to read someone went to club fed for failure to be on the know.

two ways you can mod the mags either the back where it locks into mag catch or front. a feedramp is a good addition for good feeding.

cd availible on ebay for info. its not great but helpfull.
