Saiga shotgun: hold more than 5 shells?

these Saiga semi-auto shotguns seem to be popular, but they only hold 5 rounds in the mag clip. Are there mags out there that hold more shells?

Yes, there are.

Russia makes 8 and 10 rounders. 10 rounders are made in the USA.

There are also 20 round drums in the works.

Be careful with the 10 round polymers. A friend has a Saiga 12, and after a few dozen rounds the 10-rounder broke and fell out of the shotgun only half-empty . Fortunately the store he bought it from stood behind it and replaced it, but it sure did leave a bad taste behind.

Manufacturer? There is more than one maker of 10 rounders for the Saiga 12.

Was it a 1st generation product? One of the manufacturers has had issues with the 1st generation and fixed those with the 2nd generation.

Let's not smear all of 'em with the same brush, please.

AGP had some issues with First Gen mags but they seems to have all been rectified. I use Taiwanese, Russian and American mags in my Saiga and they all work.

The greatest benefit to Saigas is not just having a 10rd mag, it's having 3 or 4 10 round mags loaded up and ready to go.

Moving right along, though, although I haven't shot more than 20 rounds out of the 10-round AGP magazine I have, so far I haven't had any trouble with it.

Be careful with the higher count mags. Anything over 5-rds in a shotgun and you "could" run afoul of the 922r importation ban. There are differing opinions, and if you have one with no threaded barrel, you "may" be OK with an AGP 10-rounder, but not with a foreign made hi-cap mag. Go over to the saiga-12.com forums for research.

Here's mine properly converted with US made parts. Essentially the trigger group is moved forward to the normal AK-47 spot, new hammer/trigger put it, pistol grip, foregrip, Tromix trigger guard, and Tapco collapsible stock. That's basically it. Some also replace the gas piston with US made. You need 10 or fewer foreign made "parts" to be legal. There is an official "parts" list that counts from the ATF. Strangely, a mag alone counts as three parts; body, base plate, and follower.

He makes the 20 round drums that can be used without modifying your shotgun. The wraithmakers require work on the shotgun to function properly, and they are more expensive. The guy is on the saiga forum all the time and he seems like a great guy, his drums get great reviews from others..

Are you sure you're talking about the right drum maker?

They ran the Wraithmaker guy(s) off the forum for selling snake oil.
