Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee

Dear Senator Hatch,

As a registered Republican & financial contributor to the RNC, I emphatically ask you to support the passage of S.1805: The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, (formerly known as S.659), and I implore you to make sure that NO restrictive amendments are attached to this bill. Any attempt to use this fine piece of legislation as a vehicle to renew or strengthen the "assault weapons" ban or to close the mythical "gun show loophole" should be resisted with all of your political will.

I also ask you to urge your fellow Senators to pass an undiluted and unamended version of S.1805. Freedom loving Americans are paying attention to this legislative struggle & we will not tolerate the continued erosion and infringement of our right to bear arms.

Please help protect our heritage of firearm ownership by protecting firearm manufacturers from unfounded lawsuits and please resist any and all attempts to attach restrictive, unnecessary, and unwanted amendments to this bill.

Thank you for your time.

Joe Blow

As a registered voter, I strongly urge you to support the passage of S.1805: The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, (previously known as S.659). I must also stress that NO restrictive amendments should be attached to this bill. Attempts to use this legislation as a means of re-authorizing the "assault weapons" ban, or as a way to enact any new gun control laws should be resisted with all of your political will & influence.

Please understand that compromise is neither desirable, nor possible in this circumstance. The "assault weapons" ban is an infringement of our right to bear arms, and it needs to be cast upon the ash heap of failed ideas. Any back room negotiations or last minute concessions that result in the extension of the ban will be seen as a betrayal of the Republican Party’s ideals and core constituency.

Thus, I once again implore you to lend your full & considerable support to the passage of an undiluted and unamended version of S.1805.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

As a voting, tax paying citizen, I request that you do everything in your power to help pass an unamended version of S.1805. The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, (previously known as S.659) is an extremely important and sensible piece of legislation, and it needs to be enacted without any restrictive amendments attached.

I remind you that the Republican Party currently controls the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives, in large part due to the support and efforts of America’s gun owners. Any attempts to renew or strengthen the so-called "Assault Weapons" ban should be sent down to defeat, and all calls for new, onerous gun control measures should fall on deaf ears. Concerned citizens are paying attention to this legislative battle, and its outcome will influence the future voting habits of freedom loving Americans.

Hence, I once again urge you to turn your back on the Clinton era "Assault Weapons" ban, & to embrace our tradition of gun ownership by protecting firearm manufacturers from frivolous lawsuits. Please resist any and all attempts to attach restrictive and unwarranted amendments to S.1805.

Thank you.

Dear Senator XXXXX,

I strongly urge you to support S.1805: "The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act" (formerly referenced as S.659) without ANY onerous gun control amendments attached.

As a law abiding gun owner and registered voter, S.1805 and the expiration of the "Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994" (also known as the 1994 "Assault Weapons" Ban) are high priorities for me. The outcome of these issues will have a very strong influence on my opinion of which political party best represents my interests.

Please understand that frivolous and constitutionally questionable amendments to S.1805 will certainly have a negative impact on the decision of millions of people at the polls this November. Freedom loving Americans are paying attention to this legislative struggle & we will not tolerate the continued erosion and infringement of our right to bear arms.

Once again, I strongly urge you to take an unambiguous stand in support of S.1805, and I respectfully ask that it be passed without any unwarranted & restrictive amendments.

Most sincerely,

C'mon folks... let's keep this important resource up top & in plain sight!!!

Carpe Diem

This week I've faxed and emailed Sens. Warner (that no-good weasel!) and Allen of VA.

In the past 6 months I've emailed them other times, as well as my Congressman, Rep. Wolf. I've also sent a letter to LaPierre telling him that NRA either fights to the death on the AWB or I walk.

Mods, maybe float this through the weekend???

It's too late for snail mail, and now is the time to pour it on!!!

...to those who think our rights are lost or that nothing can be done..SMARTEN up and start acting like AMERICANS...if our fore fathers thought that way with all the defeats we had in the revolution we would still be an English colony...I have fought alot in my life on the streets of my neighbor hood and elsewhere..I have given beatings and taken probably more than I have ever given and every time no matter the out come I stood my ground and fought..I will never give up and those of you with a defeatist attitude I will say this..."WHEN A MAN HAS NOTHING WHICH HE IS WILLING TO FIGHT FOR, NOTHING WICH HE CARES ABOUT MORE THAN HIS OWN SAFETY IS A MISERABLE CREATURE WHO WILL NEVER BE FREE..UNLESS MADE AND KEPT SO BY THE EXERTIONS OF MEN BETTER THAN HIMSELF"I chose long ago to never have any one do the work for me I should be doing for myself..So lets stop feeling sorry and stop being defeatists and stand up and be proud of what we are and should work to be...FREE AMERICANS..its a concept and IDEAL that always has to be fought for to be preserved..none of those rights in the bill of rights..the first 10 anyway aren’t worth the paper they are written on if we are not willing to fight for them..with the way some of you talk you might as well hand in your guns now and become a liberal..If you keep thinking all is done then it is..I say its only just begginning..stand up and be counted.

Under the circumstances, I thought it appropriate.

There is no fate but the fate we make...

Bump.

Fax, e-mail, write and call your senators.

Here's the sample letter from GOA. Use the ideas from all the samples, but write your own AND CALL your congress critter's offices -- even if they are antis.

"Dear Senator:

Make no mistake about it: Suits against gun manufacturers and dealers are a serious problem. But I strenuously object to loading up S. 1805 with all kinds of anti-gun amendments.

Already, this bill contains an anti-gun "lock up your safety" provision that would create a broad and implicit cause of action against gun owners who fail to actually use the storage device to lock up their firearms. Of course, a locked gun then becomes unavailable for self-defense.

Gun Owners of America informs me that there will be more gun control voted on in upcoming days. I hope you will do everything in your power to defeat the McCain gun show ban, the Clinton semi-auto ban, and any other Second Amendment infringement.

Please realize that I consider any anti-gun language attached to this bill as completely unacceptable!!!

Sincerely, "

14 hours & counting to make your opinion count!

This is a "all hands on deck" moment folks.... are you a citizen or a spectator???

If not us, who? If not NOW, when???

It is now probably too late to be writing on this particular issue, calls are possibly the only way to get your point across, that has more than likely been the case for several days. Jam the switchboards, there are endless 1-800 numbers for the capitol.

Be careful in the future with some of the links to email your senators, I have had three returned automatically because they were not on the "official webform". That's three wasted attempts and too late to rectify it other than call, which, in my opinion, is easier and quicker and allows you to contact more people in a given time.

Yesterday the Presidents voice service was jammed, hopefully by all of you great people sending a clear message.

Keep it up, there is a long way to go, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
