has anyone done business with these guys... i know i've decided against the build but i keep coming back to this build. the thing that attracts me to this particular kit is the "excellent/near excellent" condition of the kit. it's a little more than what i want to pay but want to avoid some of the kits i have seen out there. i'm fine with minor scratches or hairline cracks, just not something that appears to be dragged behind a truck, especially for the price they demand. thanks.

I have never had any bad dealings with Sarco.....but then again I have never bought a gun from them, only lots of parts and accessories.
Ordering from them on the phone is funny.....usually a mumbling, bored sounding dude answers and takes your info. Not very cheery or polite, but they do send out what you need and the descriptions are usually accurate.
I would not hesitate to order from Sarco.

Years ago I ordered something from them and got two instead of the one that I ordered. Called them and explained...so they sent me another one! LOL.

Had to call again and arrange to send the two extra items back.

I have since ordered a FAL scope from them with no issues.

I just got a Garand NM rear sight. It had to be backordered and took several months to complete the deal. They eventually sent the assembly minus the windage knob. It took a couple of calls but they finally sent me all of the parts.

Overall kind of frustrating but the price was right and the quality of the merchandise was good.

They have had my business for over 30 years without complaint .

Numrich is another outfit I've had good luck with.

Don't seem to be very efficient in operation, but have been around a very long time had have always been honest with me in our dealings. Lots of obscure stuff that can be hard to find anywhere else.

I've only ever purchased parts and such from Sarco, but the experience has always been great.

I recently used one of their new stainless firing pins to repair a Mauser. Good stuff.

Soiled And Rusty COmpany has always done right by me, but I've never tried ordering a "nice" anything from them (Madsen kit was probably the nicest).

You should go there! They're not a lively bunch but most of them know their stuff.

I agree with what others have said about their operation being a little shotty but I have had nothing but good experience with them. They mailed my package to a random address once and when I went to the address to get my pacakge the owner handed me three packages. Appearently when I called to address the issue they just kept sending replacements to that address. I have built a couple of 1911s off of their Rock Island frames/slides. I think they have the best bang for your buck commercial 1911 slide available. I have also ordered several mosin parts, etc. They seem to always have that random small part I cant find anywhere else. With the market flooded with AR parts right now I dont know if I would buy that M16 kit when you could build a quality AR with new parts for a just a bit more, but if your looking specifically for that I would trust that they have decent parts.

Keep in mind those are M16 parts. I see a full auto hammer, disconnector, and selector in the picture, but not the sear. The sear is not listed as excluded in the text, so it may be in the box.

You at least will need to do some grinding on the selector. Either way, I would call them to see what is included and the legal way to proceed.

Three separate on line dealings with SARCO, but never a complete firearm.

Delivery a bit slow ( a week more than expected ) but no mess ups on the orders.

Have dealt with Sarco and Numrich for a long period of time but never over the phone. Both have good websites but Numrich's is a bit better because they actually put schematics for many firearms keyed to their parts on the website. Sarco's is organized by firearm and other miscellaneous items. Sarco is however, usually cheaper, than Numrich and does offer parts kits which Numrich doesn't normally. BTW Numrich's schematics also are in their catalog set for phone orders-cheap and good reference for parts/assembly. Numrich's shipping is usually quick and well documented with shipping numbers etc. normally within a week. Last order from SARCO took about one month--they were out of some dummy rounds which delayed the shipment. Expect two weeks for shipping right now. One warning--you may get pristine parts or well worn parts and in a parts kit a mix. Watch out for Numrich and Sarco sometimes having aftermarket replica parts which people buy and think is original.

Have dealt with Springfield Sporters and Popperts a time or two over the phone and don't really remember much good or bad. Shipping times for them was ok but foks I talked to were pleasant and easy to get along with.

Ironically, the usual best shipping times has been Fleabay with usual turnaround time less than one week. Most vendors also ship with tracking via USPS so you can track from door to door. If you are not careful though you may pay through the nose on an item if not patient. Gunbroker's parts business seems to be fading but Gunbroker is generally more of a hassle due to few vendors taking credit cards/paypal. Many are postal order only and this naturally delays shipping. You can still occasionally get some obscure items there at a good price if you hit the boards often.

Watch out for the Mixed shipping such as FedEx-USPS or DHL-USPS hookups--it generally takes longer and stuff can get lost. Rather pay more for straight UPS or Fedex or even USPS than mixed.

I always liked going to Sarco's store in Stirling NJ (about 30 miles from my home) The place was like a museum, lots of off the wall stuff (20mm Gatling gun). Just about every thing for a gun guy. My very close friend was a dealer who was friends with Charlie Steen (owner of Sarco). They had a wide variety of things, but you were not getting things cheap.

It's been a few years but at nor time I was buying a lot of stuff from them ... The only occasion I ever had to return anything was an UZI kit ... It turned out to be more than I could do with the skills I had at the time ... They took it back and gave me a full refund with no hassles
